This statue stands 1.4m high (excluding plinth) and is depicted with historical accuracy. Davies created this statue following extensive and thorough research into the life of the 6th Century Saint.

Every element depicted from his miter and stole to the crozier, is as historically accurate as the scholarly community’s current knowledge of Welsh history allows. Moreover, Davies ventures a step further where he shows him at 60 years old with subtle evidence of arthritis in his fingers. The sculptor wanted to offer a true representation of life in 6th Century Wales which would have been undoubtedly hard. Standing with his crozier in his left hand he reaches out to greet with his right, offering hope, kindness and positivity, evoking a sense of wellbeing and spiritual inner peace.

Modelled here in plaster the statue is to be cast in bronze and mounted on a bronze base. The images show him on exhibition in Worcester Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds Cathedral, St.David’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Cardiff, Chester cathedral and St.David’s cathedral, Pembrokeshire.
